Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient form of Chinese medicine involving the insertion of solid filiform acupuncture needles into the skin at specific points on the body to achieve a therapeutic effect. No drug is injected. The needles alone create the beneficial effects of acupuncture.

Acupuncture is used to encourage natural healing, improve mood and energy, induce or relieve pain and improve function of affected areas of the body.  It is safe and effective and is often successfully used as an alternative to medications or even surgery.  Relief is often obtained with acupuncture when traditional medical therapy has failed. Acupuncture needles are solid, usually stainless steel and sterile. They are ‘atraumatic’ meaning that they do not cut.

Linda Dyer-Macdonald, PT. is well versed in acupuncture and has obtained the highest level of training via ACUPUNCTURE CANADA.

This training is unique as it offers courses in both anatomical and classical acupuncture teaching, beginning with the anatomical approach then progressing through with the more advanced classical levels.  The insight of the West combines with the wisdom of the East to maximize the understanding of both traditions.

Consequently acupuncture can be used via a Western anatomical approach plus classical Eastern technique including moxibustion, electro-acupuncture and Chan Gunn.

Myofascial & Craniosacral Therapy

Donna Arsenault, PT. has training in craniosacral therapy. This treatment modality involves gentle manipulation of the spine, scull, cranial sutures, diaphragms and fascia to assist in the movement of cerebral spinal fluid, open up the nerve passages, and allow bones to move towards their proper positioning.

Myofascial release is a form of soft tissue manual therapy that acts to relax muscles, stretch fascia, increase lymphatic drainage, and increase circulation. This treatment modality is an effective means for increasing range of motion and decreasing pain.

Functional Abilities Evaluations (FAE)

FAE’s are provided, either ½ day, 1 or 2 day tests. Length is determined depending on the Physical Demand Analysis provided and depth of assessment required. A written report is provided within 10 days.

Clients are supervised constantly.

Occupational Rehabilitation Program

The Occupational Rehabilitation Program offers individualized programs focused on return to work and function of our clients. Services provided are coordinated and proactive for the management of those with injury and loss of function due to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

The program will identify, address and reduce, where possible, the risks of injury, re-injury or disease and illness that has been caused or exacerbated due to a motor vehicle accident.

This program encourages strict standards that we adhere to including yearly statistics reports; consistent monitoring and goal setting with clients; and regular re-assessments.
